Please note: This Campaign is for WA residents only
The Cook Labor Government has recently passed a gender self-identification (self-ID) Bill in our Parliament’s Lower House, which poses a serious threat to the safety and rights of biological females.
This Bill would allow any male, including those with a history of violence against women, to legally change their birth certificate with just a doctor’s confirmation of gender self-ID.
This opens the door for potential abuse, particularly in female-only spaces.
Please contact all Upper House MPs to inform them of the recent warning from the United Nations Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, who highlighted the risk that sexual predators could exploit such laws.
WA Law must recognize the unique vulnerabilities of biological females and uphold their right to safe, secure, and exclusive spaces.
The removal of gender reassignment board assessments in this Bill could potentially endanger women and minors, compromising their privacy and safety.
This Bill will also remove the legislative mandatory requirement to separate sexes in prisons. This would violate The United Nations standard minimum rules for the treatment of prisoners.
WA parliamentarians must not rush this Bill through; instead, it should be referred to the Standing Committee on Legislation for a thorough public inquiry to ensure that the rights of women and girls are protected, not eroded.
