Here at FamilyVoice Australia, we urge concerned people like you to join our petition to MPs, asking them to protect children from exposure to gambling.
Online gambling brings harm to families, especially to households with gambling addicts.
Incredibly, our children cannot watch a game of football on TV without exposure to online gambling advertising.
They cannot watch the evening news bulletin without seeing gambling that is advertised during the sports report.
While betting advertising is banned in Australia during general classification television timeslots, sports broadcasts are exempt!
That is why children as young as eight can easily recall gambling brands and gambling sponsorships. Their young hearts and minds are infected by the Aussie obsession with gambling. This must stop!
Sports betting is on the rise, and it’s a problem for teenage gamblers. Research reveals that between 60 and 70 per cent of children have gambled, despite being under-age, and one in 25 teenagers has a gambling problem. Enough is enough!
We hope you will please sign our petition to MPs, urging them to reform the broadcasting laws, to protect children from exposure to online gambling by banning those adverts during news broadcasts or sports programs.
Today, FamilyVoice is counting on you and your support – we need 100,000 signatures to protect children from exposure to gambling adverts.
Petition to the Federal parliament:
Dear Parliamentarian,
I’m sure you agree we must protect children from exposure to gambling advertising on TV.
I’m very concerned that 60% - 70% of children have gambled, including those who are underage, and one in 25 teenagers has a gambling problem.
I urge you to please work with your parliamentary colleagues to protect children from exposure to gambling adverts during the TV news or TV sports broadcasts.
Yours sincerely,
