As you are most likely aware, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games featured an appalling attack on Christianity.
The ceremony included a portrayal of the Last Supper, a sacred event in Christian faith, in a manner that has caused distress among many Christians worldwide.
Bishop Robert Barron has wisely said, "The sacred is to be treated with reverence and care. When religious symbols are used in ways that are disrespectful, it not only offends believers but undermines the very fabric of our shared humanity." This sentiment highlights the importance of handling Christian imagery with the utmost respect.
It is imperative that this does not happen at our own upcoming Olympics. The Brisbane 2032 Olympics should focus on celebrating Australian culture and the love of sport, without incorporating controversial and offensive depictions of Christianity.
Please send a quick message requesting that the Australian Olympic Committee ensures the 2032 Brisbane Games remain free from disrespectful religious imagery.
