The Country Liberal Party (CLP) government in the Northern Territory has confirmed plans to repeal the Labor government's harmful hate speech laws. This is a crucial step toward protecting free speech and safeguarding religious freedoms.
These laws threatened freedom of expression by criminalising opinions that others may find offensive. Their repeal will restore the ability of faith communities to speak openly about their beliefs without fear of legal consequences.
In addition to protecting free speech, the CLP government has also committed to restoring the right of faith-based schools to hire staff who uphold their values—a right that was attacked under the previous Labor government. This is a vital move to protect religious institutions' freedom to maintain their ethos.
We must thank the NT government for standing up for free speech and religious freedom, and encourage them to follow through on their commitments.
Please send a quick message to the NT Chief Minister, thanking the government for taking action to protect freedom of speech and the rights of faith-based schools.
