THIS CAMPAIGN HAS CLOSED.

Margaret Court is once again under attack.

The tennis champion applied for a grant with Lotterywest to buy a freezer truck for her charity to help with delivering food to those in need.

The grant was denied.

According to WAtoday, Margaret Court's husband Barry was told at a meeting with Lotterywest that they would not receive any funding because of her religious views opposing same-sex marriage and questioning gender theory.

Further, Barry was told the organisation would never receive funding, particularly as Lotterywest was the major sponsor of WA's Pride Festival.

Margaret Court should not be discriminated against because of her religious views.

Nor should those in need be prevented from receiving assistance from Margaret Court’s charity because of Lotterywest’s LGBT politics.

Margaret Court is planning to lodge a complaint against Lotterywest with WA's Equal Opportunity Commission.

But in the meantime, we need to send a strong statement to Lotterywest that religious discrimination is not okay and that the decision should be reversed immediately.

Open letter to Lotterywest:

We write concerning your decision to discriminate against Margaret Court’s charity due to her religious views about marriage and gender.

Many in our community believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and that God made two genders – male and female. These are not controversial views.

In any event, they have nothing to do with the ability to provide food to those in need.

Lotterywest’s discriminatory politics should not impede the needy receiving the support they require.

We urge you to do the right thing and to immediately reverse your discriminatory decision.

Yours sincerely,
