The alarming rate of ‘born alive’ babies under abortion is a concern for all future Mums and Dads and Grandparents,” said Greg Bondar, national spokesman for FamilyVoice Australia.

Data shows that as many as 12 per cent of babies are born alive during late-term abortions in Victoria.

“These babies are left to die, rather than being provided with any life-saving medical care,” said Greg Bondar.

Mr George Christensen MP is seeking to introduce The Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Act 2021 to Parliament which would require medical practitioners to offer these children the same care that would be afforded any other baby.

“Mr Christensen’s research highlights the reality of ‘live deaths under abortion’ which must be addressed in the name of human rights and protection of the child. There is always societal outcry over child abuse, paedophilia, psychological or emotional abuse of children, yet the deaths of those ‘born alive’ goes unaddressed.

Factually, the publication Victoria’s Mothers, Babies and Children Report, highlights a total of 1626 late term (20 weeks or later) abortions in Victoria, resulted in 198 live births, between 2012 and 2016. (Approximately 12%) and in Queensland, an ABC report stated there were 204 terminations with live birth outcomes between 2005 and 2015.

“The reality is that Tasmania, Northern Territory, NSW and the ACT do not publish abortion statistics which would further highlight the tragedy of “born alive” deaths. We as Australians are in breach of our international obligations such as The Convention on the Rights of The Child and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,” added Mr Bondar.

Mr Bondar is asking all Mums and Dads and Grandparents ‘to be’ to consider the painful question: ‘what happens to a child born alive during a late term abortion?’ The uncomfortable and soul-destroying truth is that the child is ‘left to die’.

Is this the society we Australians want to live in? MP George Christensen will be the FamilyVoice guest webinar speaker on Monday, 8 March.
