Under recent regulatory changes due to  the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Amendment Regulation 2026 nurses and midwives are being turned into abortionists. 

This is a profound shift in the role of healthcare professionals who have always been a symbol and beacon of care and dedication to life. 

This change makes the ones we expect to care for babies into their executioners. 

A Betrayal of Principle

The most troubling aspect of this development is that the LNP previously opposed the very legislative framework it is now implementing. When Labor introduced these changes in 2024, the LNP stood against them. Yet today, under the direction of the current government, those same policies are being quietly advanced through regulation.

These laws were wrong then; they are wrong now! 

We are asking you to Stand with FamilyVoice Australia and demand an end to this framework. We should never be turning nurses and midwives into abortionists.

• First, it should immediately halt the implementation of regulations that enable midwives to perform abortions.
• Second, it must repeal the Gag Motion! The LNP must commit to restoring full parliamentary debate. Policies of this magnitude should never be advanced quietly or without scrutiny.
• Third, it should protect and defend healthcare workers who refuse to participate in the murder of our preborn neighbours. Freedom of conscience is a fundamental right. 
• Finally, the LNP must reaffirm a simple but vital principle: healthcare should be ordered toward the protection of life, not its destruction.
