On 10 December 2024, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli introduced a motion to the Queensland Parliament, which effectively banned any discussion of the State’s abortion laws in the Parliament.

This is not how a democratically elected parliament should operate. The parliament should be able to debate ALL issues.

Then it became known that Baby Samuel was born alive after an abortion procedure at Townsville Hospital. Images of Baby Samuel have since gone viral on social media, clearly showing him comforting himself by sucking his thumb until he died 30 minutes later. No help was allowed to be given to him.

In response to these terrible happenings, this week, with the support of the QLD pro-life groups, including FamilyVoice, and after a large rally and campaigns to MPs, pro-life champion, Robbie Katter MP challenged the Premier’s gag order in Parliament but was blocked by 50 LNP MPs who voted to disallow his motion.

One shining light stood out in the darkness of this very disappointing action. Nigel Dalton, the LNP member for Mackay, crossed the floor in defiance of his own party’s position on the gag order.

This man is a real hero. At great potential personal and professional cost, he did the right thing. He stood up for the unborn when others, who should have, did not.
