Burning the Australian Flag should be outlawed!
Australia’s flag, our unifying national symbol, must be protected.
Burning the Australian flag in public goes far beyond any reasonable form of protest. It is an affront to the men and women of our armed forces who served under that flag to defend our way of life and preserve the freedoms of our democratic nation.
To burn the flag is to show contempt for the heritage, sacrifice, and liberties that it represents. It reflects a deep disdain for the privilege of living in Australia and benefiting from the peace, freedom, and stability this nation provides.
Public acts of flag burning, especially when staged to provoke confrontation or intimidate others, risk undermining social cohesion and creating flashpoints for division and unrest.
Robbie Katter MP has introduced a Bill to criminalise burning our National Flag. It is time Australia stopped tolerating the public desecration of our nation’s most important symbol.
The move comes after public outrage when an Australian flag was burnt at an Australia Day protest in Brisbane. The act was widely condemned across the political spectrum. Robbie Katter said such conduct set a “very dangerous precedent”, while Premier David Crisafulli described it as “disgraceful”.
Now, Lets Stand with our National Flag!
Send an email to Robbie Katter, thanking him for introducing this MUCH needed Bill to protect our National Flag.
